Composting 101 - Introduction to Back Yard Composting

Minimizing waste and keeping organic material out of our landfills is a focus for Brooke’s personal and professional life.  As the Sustainability Manager at SLC she helps to reduces energy and waste generated on campus through community engagement and changes to operational processes.  At home, she strives ensure 100% of organic waste generated by her family, is composted each week.   Composting organic matter became a interested originally to reduce waste and her environmental footprint, but she is slowly developing her skills as a gardener too.

Self-Publishing 101

Craig Anderson self published his first book in 2013, and has since released 7 books, selling over 10k copies. In this workshop he will help you understand the basics, to get you started on the path of publishing your own book.

Hair of the Dog - Maintenance at Home

In 2011, after working in the field of Biotechnology for twelve years I fell in love with a toy poodle named Maggie and my passion for dog grooming was revealed. I took a course on dog grooming at the local college and opened deTails Dog Grooming later that year. With more knowledge came an interest to compete, so I started down that path in 2014. In 2017 I completed my Master Groomer with NDGAA and then CPPS here in Canada. For the last three years I have been in the Top 10 for Groom Team Canada. Last year I finished 5th overall. My goal is to make the Groom Team Canada travel team.   I teach dog grooming at St Lawrence College in Kingston, Ontario as part of the Vet Assistant program and also own and groom at deTails Dog Grooming in Mallorytown, Ontario.

Belly Dancing 

Jill Cameron is a local belly dancer and one of the founders of the Kingston Belly Dance Collective which performs for charities events.  She took her first class 13 years ago and has been performing for the last 5 years under the stage name of Idris.  Join her for one of her practice drills, all you need is bare feet, comfortable clothes and sense of humour.

Carla Kingston-Floyd is a full time faculty member and program coordinator of the Supply Chain Management Graduate Certificate. Carla received her MBA from Cape Breton University and as a small business owners, she works with and within a budget everyday.
